What is Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP)
Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) is a technology that extends the shelf life of food by altering the gas composition inside the package. MAP replaces the air inside the package, usually reducing oxygen content and increasing the proportion of carbon dioxide or nitrogen, thereby slowing down food oxidation and microbial growth, maintaining the freshness and quality of the food. This packaging method is widely used for perishable foods such as meat, seafood, vegetables, and fruits, helping to extend shelf life and reduce food waste.
